The TD Charitable Foundation, the charitable giving arm of TD Bank, America’s Most
Convenient Bank ®, recently donated $50,000 to the Food Bank of Delaware to help with
the organization’s increased demand. $50,000 is equivalent to 200,000 meals.
It is typical during the holidays for food bank requests to increase, but many people
forget about the spirit of giving once the new year begins. The current financial crisis
increases this demand, as well as the need for volunteers. On Wednesday,
February 17, 2010, TD Bank executives visited the Food Bank of Delaware for a tour of
the facility and to help stock and replenish shelves.
The Food Bank of Delaware is a statewide nonprofit agency whose mission is a
community free of hunger. Originally founded in 1981 as the Food Conservers, Inc., the
Food Bank of Delaware has provided food assistance to Delawareans at risk of hunger for more than 25 years. The TD Charitable Foundation is the charitable giving of arm of TD Bank.
“This donation supports the basic need of our community." said Tom Shoemaker, Market President for TD Bank, "We are happy to step in and offer our help with the hope that no one goes hungry.”
A staunch commitment to active involvement in the local community is a vital element of the TD Bank philosophy. TD Bank provides financial and other support to educational, community, human service, arts, and health-related programs, many of which focus on improving the welfare of children and families
