LOOKING FOR WELL-TRAINED,
PROFESSIONAL KITCHEN STAFF?

HIRE OUR TRAINED STUDENTS

The Culinary School at the Food Bank of Delaware is a 14-week Culinary Training Program taking students from safety and sanitation to international cuisine.

Our students receive 350 hours of intensive, “hands-on” kitchen and classroom instruction from the Food Bank’s Chef Instructor, as well as 50 hours of life skills training including: goal setting, attitude, professionalism, personal finance and time management. Students are awarded a certificate of completion after they have successfully completed the course requirements.

We provide students with 50 hours of ServSafe instruction and two opportunities to become ServSafe certified prior to graduation.

MENTOR OUR STUDENTS THROUGH INTERNSHIPS

During the final two weeks of our culinary program the students participate in a 20-30 hour per week work experience with an area commercial kitchen. Previous internship sites have included: Columbus Inn, Harry’s Seafood Grill, Desserts By Dana, Café Services, Crooked Hammock, SoDel Concepts restaurants, Dover Downs, DiFebo’s, a(MUSE.), Harrington Raceway and Casino!

The Food Bank of Delaware pays the students a stipend during their internship, provides uniforms, shoes, and bus passes or gas cards to support their transportation to and from their internship site. Our staff will visit the site during the internship to ensure all is going well. There is no cost to you and students are fully covered by the school in the event of an accident. All we ask is that you provide an evaluation of the student at the end of the two weeks.
