Perfect evening for the 2017 Dinner in the Orchard; another success

September 12, 2017

Everyone agreed we could not have ordered better fall weather for our annual Dinner in the Orchard! Thanks to T.S. Smith & Sons, our sponsors, local growers and businesses, and those who attended, this year’s Dinner in the Orchard on Sept. 7 was a sell-out success!

In keeping with tradition, the al fresco dining event was held in the apple orchard pavilion at T.S. Smith & Sons, Bridgeville. Guests enjoyed not only the seasonable weather, but also the hearty meal, music by The Swing Notables, horse-drawn carriage rides around the farm, courtesy of Circle C Outfit.

Those attending had a warm welcome from Charlie Smith, a fourth generation farmer and partner at T.S. Smith & Sons. Chad Robinson, our Milford branch director, thanked the patrons who enjoyed a hearty dinner served family-style.

T.S. Smith & Sons was the event’s presenting sponsor; Chesapeake Utilities Corporation was the generous platinum sponsor, while Circle C Outfit and Trinity Foundation were gold sponsors. Carl M. Freeman Foundation rounded out the sponsor line-up as silver sponsor.

Thanks to local growers, Donnie’s Market, Evans Farms, Little Wagon Produce, Ma & Pa’s Produce, and T.A. Farms, more than 120 ticket holders enjoyed a hearty meal that included two salads, striped bass, grilled chicken, beef brisket, assorted vegetables and starches, topped off with pumpkin cheesecake.

An assorted of wines and beers were also available.
