????????????????????????????????????Smart Choices for WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) is a skills and knowledge-building program utilizing the 2010 Dietary Guidelines and USDA MyPlate recommendations.  This program focuses on teaching pregnant and new mothers about healthy eating and how they can learn to prepare nutritious easy meals from the foods on their food vouchers.0426_WIC_Sarah02web

The Smart Choices for WIC module consists of eleven recipes to be taught at each of the eleven clinics throughout the state of Delaware for a total of 121 food demonstrations.  Each rolling demonstration will be no more than forty-five minutes long with a highlighted recipe and smoothie. and will include an introduction to MyPlate for pregnant women and new mothers, information about the primary nutrients highlighted in their food voucher, recipe making and testing, and a MyPlate for preschoolers, a grocery bag, and a recipe book to participants and an incentive for participation in four or more demonstrations.
The program is presented by the WIC Food Demonstration Specialists working at WIC clinics throughout the state of Delaware It is intended for WIC recipients as a collaboration between WIC and the Food Bank of Delaware to further educate participants about the benefits of the food voucher and encourage full usage of all  products.
