St. Matthews

When the students at St. Matthews School read about the increasing number of Delawareans needing food assistance, they immediately wanted to help. Students brainstormed ideas to help the Food Bank of Delaware and decided to hold a paper pretzel fundraiser. The children worked before and school, during lunch and on the weekends to cut out paper pretzels, sell them and thank those that generously donated to their cause. The students' hard work paid off - they collected $1,000 for the Food Bank of Delaware. To see how their money will be used, students were invited to the Food Bank's Newark warehouse to see how the Food Bank works to feed close to 90,000 Delawareans each year.
