Amazon partners with Food Bank of Delaware; offers logistic expertise as nonprofit expands

On Tuesday, Amazon operations leadership from the local fulfillment center in Middletown toured the Food Bank of Delaware, offering suggestions on the organization’s logistics and efficiencies as they prepare to move to their new location on Lake Drive in Newark. The Food Bank of Delaware partners with 575 organizations and has outgrown their current space.

“We’re excited to bring our tools and expertise to improve operations efficacy at the Food Bank of Delaware, especially as they move to a larger facility,” said Rohan Mendoza, General Manager at Amazon’s Middletown fulfillment center. “This is one of many ways for us to give back to the communities where our associates live and work.”

Amazon also presented the organization with a $10,000 check to support the Food Bank’s mission to serve the community. The donation will provide over 20,000 meals to local residents.

“The Food Bank of Delaware is thrilled to start a new partnership with Amazon,” said Food Bank of Delaware President and CEO Patricia Beebe. “As we prepare for our move to 222 Lake Drive, their advice on streamlining operations and enhancing efficiencies will be invaluable. Today’s donation of $10,000, and the organization’s commitment to volunteering will help us feed more food insecure Delawareans. We look forward to a bright future with Amazon.”

Associates from Amazon’s local fulfillment centers also volunteered during the visit. Thirty-five Amazonians picked, packed, and palletized nearly 400 boxes of meals for local seniors.
