FEBRUARY IS NATIONAL CANNED FOOD MONTH!

In celebration, we’d like to challenge your school to help us fight hunger in Delaware by raising 2,022 pounds of canned goods. It’s easy… and it makes a huge difference in more than 114,000 lives right here in our own state.

Just contact Sue DeNardo (contact information below!) by January 20 to let us know that your school will accept our challenge. From February 1 through February 28, invite your school community to bring in canned goods from our special shopping list, and deposit them in your own collection boxes or ones we can provide you with prior to the start of the challenge.

You can also opt to do your drive virtually (or add a virtual component to your regular drive) by creating a Virtual Food Drive page. Each $1 collected virtually will be counted as 1 pound of virtual canned goods.

During the first week of March, bring your donations to our Newark or Milford sites, and we will weigh them for you. All participating schools will receive a certificate of recognition. Any schools raising 2,022 or more pounds of canned goods (real cans and virtual cans) will be presented with a special trophy and recognition on the Food Bank of Delaware website!
