CANgineering participants collect 95,000+ pounds through creativity and teamwork

May 4, 2018

Thanks to the enthusiasm of this year’s CANgineering competitors, we collected 95,604 pounds of nonperishable foods! Delaware businesses and schools from up and down the state used creativity and teamwork to design and build impressive structures out of food items!

Among the winning structures were a stop light, Philadelphia Eagles’ Lincoln Financial Field, a rainbow and more!

The panel of judges were impressed with this year’s creations and had difficulties choosing the winners.

“What a great variety of structures this year,” said Food Bank of Delaware President and CEO Patricia Beebe. “Spring is a critical season as we work to stock the shelves of our partner agencies as we head into the summertime months. The CANgineering competition brings much needed resources as we head into a busy time of year. We are thrilled about this year’s competition and the creativity of all of the participants.”

Judges noted that the structures continue to get better and better each year!
