Delaware Food Works supports three workforce training programs that help Delawareans become financially stable. These programs are free to students and are funded by generous scholarships and grants. Last year, 136 students graduated from our workforce training programs.
The Culinary School: A 14-week culinary training program that prepares students for success in the food service industry by providing culinary instruction and hands-on learning in a professional kitchen with a chef instructor.
LOGIC (Logistics, Operations, General Warehousing and Inventory Control): A 14-week training program offering hands-on experience with warehouse machinery and certifications that prepare students to thrive in the warehousing/logistics industry.
The Kitchen School: A 12-week culinary training program specifically designed for adults with disabilities that prepares students for success in the food service industry by providing culinary instruction and hands-on learning in a professional kitchen with a chef instructor.
Together with local businesses, we are creating opportunities that strengthen Delaware’s workforce while helping our neighbors build brighter futures for themselves and their families.
How Can You Partner with the Food Bank of Delaware?
HOST A STUDENT INTERN
During the final two weeks of each program, students participate in 20-40 hours per week of hands-on experience (paid for by the Food Bank). This is your opportunity to evaluate potential hires in a real-world setting through an internship at your place of business.
VISIT AS A GUEST SPEAKER
Share your career journey and industry insights with our students who are eager to learn from professionals like you. Schedule a visit to discuss topics such as your career path, workplace expectations, industry trends or overcoming challenges.
HOLD MOCK INTERVIEWS
Help students build confidence and professionalism by conducting practice interviews with small groups. Choose to visit students at the Food Bank or we'll bring them to you!
INDUSTRY DEMONSTRATIONS
Showcase your expertise by giving students a behind-the-scenes tour of your facility or bringing your skills to us for a hands-on demonstration.
BE A GUEST JUDGE
Put your taste buds to work as a guest judge at one of our culinary students' cooking competition or exams. As a guest judge, you'll get a front-row seat to our students' incredible growth.
