Celebrating 10 years at the Food Bank of Delaware

Wow, happy tenth anniversary to me here at FBD!  Time has gone by so quickly I can honestly say it doesn’t feel like I’ve been here that long.  As I think of where we were as an organization 10 years ago in comparison to today, I’m amazed at the extreme growth and explosion of services and advocacy provided.

The past 10 years I have had daily testing, learning and growth all while working with incredibly passionate people both internally and externally.  I recently received a t-shirt that states “I am a Program Director and that means I live in a crazy fantasy world with unrealistic expectations.  Thank you for understanding.”  That is a great summary of how I think of daily tasks and challenges.  It keeps each day interesting not only for me but all my co-workers, because I’m always looping them into what I think are always realistic expectations.

I’m grateful to my President & CEO, Patricia Beebe, and hiring manager, Anne Killeen, who took the chance on hiring me to be a Volunteer Coordinator.  I know they were leery given my prior experience being all office tasks.  Also for all the support from my family particularly during my first summer and all their “volunteering,” amazingly enough they still volunteer.

I look forward to experiencing and learning from many more great partnerships and accomplishments along with the incredible team at FBD!
