Delaware McDonald’s® Operator Association’s McCafé® Coffee with a Cause Program Partners with the Food Bank of Delaware
November 4, 2016
The Delaware McDonald’s® Operator Association continues its McCafe® Coffee with a Cause program in November by partnering with the Food Bank of Delaware. Every Monday, participating McDonald’s restaurants throughout New Castle and Kent County Delaware donate 50 percent of net McCafé coffee sales to a charitable organization in an effort to make a positive impact within the local communities.
This month, in addition to raising money through coffee sales, McDonald’s will support the Food Bank of Delaware’s Thanksgiving For All Food Drive, which is seeking to fill 2,500 Thanksgiving meal boxes for Delaware families in need. All participating McDonald’s restaurants will have an in-store food drive donation bin which will be collected at the end of each week. For information on food items in need, please visit the Food Bank of Delaware’s website: http://www.fbd.org/thanksgiving-for-all/
“The Food Bank of Delaware is a great organization that provides invaluable services here in Delaware, and we’re happy to assist them in their efforts to better the community,” states Alan Dukart, McDonald’s Owner/Operator, “We are excited to have the opportunity to raise awareness of local poverty and alleviate hunger in Delaware through supporting the Thanksgiving For All Food Drive.”
Throughout the year, donations from McCafé Coffee with a Cause have benefited various local charities within Delaware, including Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition, Autism Delaware, Delaware Humane Association, and Arc of Delaware.
November marks the second month-long partnership between McDonald’s and the Food Bank of Delaware. In July, McDonald’s raised $3,000, which helped fund the organization’s Backpack Program – dedicated to providing food in backpacks to children in need on weekends and holidays when school is not in session and federal school meal programs are not available.
“McDonald’s has been a wonderful partner over the past year,” states Patricia D. Beebe, President and CEO, Food Bank of Delaware, “We appreciate their efforts in supporting our Backpack Program in July, and now, with their support of the Thanksgiving Food Drive For All, we’ll be able to bring Thanksgiving to thousands of local families.”
