Donor of the Year: Chesapeake Utilities
May 12, 2016
We continue to highlight the seven groups and individuals that were honored at last month’s annual dinner!
Without the support of Chesapeake Utilities, the Food Bank of Delaware would not be able to provide a Thanksgiving dinner for thousands of Delaware families.
Over the past five years, Chesapeake has donated $98,500 to the Food Bank through Chesapeake Cares. A significant portion of these funds have been used to support the annual Thanksgiving for All program.
Funds have been used to purchase the food for thousands of Thanksgiving meal boxes which are subsequently distributed at locations in Kent and Sussex counties.
There’s a lot of behind-the-scenes preparation involved in the actual distributions, so Chesapeake Utilities arranges for three volunteer days just to pack these boxes at the Milford warehouse! Chesapeake employees also serve as hands-on volunteers during the distribution days. They pack carts, load boxes in cars and unload.
Chesapeake Utilities employees also show their support by attending or being involved in Food Bank fundraising events. They are regular supporters of the Blue Jean Ball and Dinner in the Orchard.
The Food Bank of Delaware thanks Chesapeake Utilities for their commitment to our vision of a hunger-free community.
