Food Bank of Delaware celebrates L.O.G.I.C. graduates

Congratulations to the Food Bank of Delaware’s latest L.O.G.I.C. class!

We celebrated the success of six graduates on Wednesday. They are:

• Francine Butler
• Daunte Frazier
• Frederick Herbert
• Michael Neal
• Brandon Sheats
• Tejinder Singh

Keynote speaker Colleen Morrone, President and Chief Executive Officer of Goodwill of Delaware and Delaware County provided inspiring keynote remarks to the graduates.

“Keep challenging yourself to be more and to do more,” she advised. “There is opportunity to continue developing your skills and to continue learning.”

L.O.G.I.C. (Logistics, Operations, General Warehousing and Inventory Control) is a 14-week training program, certified as a trade school by the Delaware Department of Education; students  prepare for careers in the warehousing/logistics industry.

Under the instruction of Operations Instructor Lloyd Badson, the class learned how to safely maneuver and operate warehouse equipment like fork lifts, pallet jacks, end riders and more. The students’ training was well-rounded with the addition of life skills like communication, resume writing, interviewing, nutrition and more. In addition to forklift and OSHA-10 certification. Program participants worked towards earning the nationally-accredited Manufacturing Skill Standards Council’s Certified Logistics Associate and Certified Logistics Technician credentials.

Thanks to the support of the Food Bank of Delaware team, the students all received a two-week paid work experience and job placement services as part of their training program.

For graduate Francine Butler, the program was the certification she needed for a pay increase at her current job at the post office. The graduates expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to participate. Brandon Sheats said that Instructor Lloyd Badson was the “best instructor he ever had.”
