Volunteer of the Year: Becky Varlas
May 3, 2016
On April 21 we honored our top supporters of the year! Over the next several days we will highlight each of their contributions to our mission!
Becky Varlas has been a dedicated volunteer for the past two years and has donated more than 275 hours. She plays an important role in the Food Bank of Delaware Programs Department, handling a variety of clerical duties for the Mobile Pantry and Senior Nutrition programs.
Both programs require extensive data entry, filing and paperwork management. Becky is conscientious and dependable. She volunteers every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon.
Food Bank of Delaware staff say that Becky is always in good spirits, willing to assist with new projects and a good teacher! (She is actually a retired teacher!) The Mobile Pantry and Senior Nutrition programs would not run as smoothly as they do without her assistance.
In addition to her work at the Food Bank, Becky also volunteers at the Hope Dining Room in Newark. She organizes a team from the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Newark to assist with lunch preparation for those in need on the fourth Thursday of the month.
Becky truly is committed to our vision of a community free of hunger!
We are thankful for her support!
