Student Spotlight: Aliza

The Kitchen School at the Food Bank of Delaware helped Aliza Pidgeon find her way into a career in food service, and led her to secure employment at Chick-Fil-A in Wilmington in December 2023. Graduating from the kitchen school program in November 2023, Aliza now works as a Host, greeting and engaging with customers, maintaining a clean dining area, and packaging treats like cookies and brownies.

Aliza’s friendly personality makes her a natural in her role. “My favorite thing about working at Chick-Fil-A is to see people smile and to make people happy,” Aliza shares.

Her time at the Kitchen School was not only about learning practical skills but also about building connections. Reflecting on her experience, Aliza says, “I loved meeting new people,”. The Kitchen School’s hands-on curriculum prepared her well for her role, with the added benefit of supportive instructors who encouraged her every step of the way.

Aliza’s journey reflects the Kitchen School’s commitment to equipping students with skills for immediate employment in the food service industry.
