Congratulations to our Milford Kitchen School graduates!
April 29, 2026
At the Food Bank of Delaware, we never miss a chance to celebrate a win—and today’s graduation ceremony for our Kitchen School in Milford was exactly that kind of moment.
The event came as Autism Awareness Month (April) drew to a close, making the celebration of student success even more meaningful. All nine graduates passed their ServSafe® exam, prepared a restaurant-quality, Asian-themed luncheon, and are ready to begin new jobs in the food-service industry.
Congratulations to our graduates:
• William Bartsch
• Dewayne Bowens
• Albert Camper
• Isaiah David
• Nathanial Longley
• Amir Shockley
• Danita Williams
• Devin Wineland
We applaud these students for completing our 12-week culinary training program and earning their ServSafe® certification. One student, Isaiah David, even scored a perfect 100 percent on the exam.
Our President and CEO, Cathy Kanefsky, captured the moment beautifully, reminding students: “You have been working hard your whole life, and now you are set up for success.”
Keynote speaker Chris Short, general manager at Grotto Pizza in Milford, encouraged graduates to “do what makes you happy—that’s when you thrive. The skills you’ve learned at the Food Bank will stay with you for the rest of your life. I’ve heard you talk about being a good teammate; that means respecting the people around you.”
The Kitchen School is a workforce development program for adults with disabilities, supported by the Delaware Department of Labor and generous community donors. Because of that support, students attend at no cost—an investment in people, in possibility, and in stronger futures.
