Francine Butler’s start with the L.O.G.I.C. (Logistics, Operations, General Warehousing and Inventory Control) program was unexpected, stumbling across a casual Facebook post that spoke highly of the Food Bank’s warehouse training program. However, now 10 weeks into this 14-week program, Francine speaks highly of the program herself.

The program teaches the basic warehouse skills needed to work in the warehousing/logistics field. Learning to maneuver warehouse equipment is also included in the training. Students have the opportunity to earn four certifications – OSHA 10, forklift, Certified Logistics Associate and Certified Logistics Technician.

Apprehensive about the training at first, Francine is thriving thanks to the commitment of her instructor, Lloyd Badson.

At first, like most program participants, Francine struggled with the warehouse equipment. With continued practice, she is now feeling confident in her abilities!

In particular, Francine loved learning how to handle the forklift and stand-up jack! Francine says that “going to the warehouse and working is the best.”

In addition to hands-on skills for the warehouse, Francine and her classmates are also learning things like customer service, interviewing, resume writing and handling difficult situations.

The next training L.O.G.I.C. class in Newark starts on Monday, October 2. To learn more, visit www.fbd.org/logic.
