From Kitchen School to Career Success: Brianna’s Journey
January 30, 2025
At the Food Bank of Delaware, we believe that food is more than just nourishment—it’s an opportunity for growth, learning, and a better future. For graduates of The Kitchen School that belief becomes reality as they step into new careers in the food service industry.
One of our recent graduates, Brianna, is already making her mark. She completed The Kitchen School in December 2024 and has since started her new job as a Food Service Associate at the University of Delaware’s Pencader Dining Hall.
Brianna has hit the ground running in her new role, where she has been trained to work in the dish room, clean and organize dishware and utensils, sanitize work surfaces and tables and keep the dining area clean and organized.
Her strong work ethic, tenacity, and self-advocacy have already made her a standout team member. She approaches every task with determination and kindness, making her a valued part of the dining hall team.
When asked about her favorite part of working at Pencader Dining Hall, Brianna’s answer was simple but powerful, earning her own money.
Having financial independence is a huge milestone, and it’s something she takes pride in.
As for her time at The Kitchen School, Brianna describes it as “fun and comfortable”—a place where she felt supported and empowered to grow.
Brianna is just getting started in her career, and she’s eager to learn even more on the job. With her passion, hard work, and drive, the future looks bright.
We are so proud of Brianna and all of our Kitchen School graduates who are taking the skills they’ve learned and turning them into life-changing opportunities.
