By Nina Negrin, Communications Intern
Meet Olivia Brown, a Kitchen School graduate who loves to stay busy and keep learning. After completing the Summer Culinary Exploration Program in 2023, she graduated from the Kitchen School in November 2023, where she learned new cooking skills and gained confidence in the kitchen.
Olivia loves to stay busy and has held several food service jobs, including being a server at the University of Delaware Dining Hall, a Dietary Aide at Cadia Healthcare, and a Food Service Worker at the Mary Campbell Center. Now, she works as a Cafeteria Worker at a Wilmington elementary school, where she serves meals, cleans dishes, and preps food for the next day. Olivia’s hard work, quick learning, and positive attitude make her a great team member in every role.
What Olivia enjoys most about her job is serving her customers. “I like how much fun it was to learn the different ways to cook food,” she says about her time at The Kitchen School. The program allowed her to explore new cooking techniques and learn from professional chefs and job coaches. Olivia’s dedication to her work and her friendly approach have helped her succeed in every position she’s taken on.
Olivia’s story shows how The Kitchen School helps students develop their skills and find success in food service. We’re excited to see what she’ll achieve next as she continues her culinary journey!
