Clayton Brown is close to celebrating his graduation from the Food Bank of Delaware’s notable L.O.G.I.C (Logistics, Operations, General Warehousing, Inventory Control) program. Since joining the program, Clayton has had the opportunity to learn new skills that prepare him for the workforce.
With the goal of expanding his skillset, Clayton enrolled in the L.O.G.I.C program after hearing about it from his friends who participated in the program previously. He was driven by a desire to use his time productively, and the program has certainly lived up to his expectations. Upon starting this journey at the Food Bank, he was most interested in gaining certifications in various warehousing skills. Doing exactly that and more, Clayton describes his experience as “a positive one” which, in turn, made him “more open-minded book-savvy.” In addition to an open mind, Clayton has developed patience, qualities that have helped him connect with his classmates, who come from various backgrounds and face different challenges.
In terms of the lessons taught within the classroom, Clayton has praised his L.O.G.I.C instructors as being “professional with a personal touch.” The support and teachings from his instructors have been instrumental in Clayton’s success; he appreciates the new and personal perspective they bring, allowing him to relate to and learn from his peers, despite their diverse experiences. This camaraderie and mutual support have enriched his learning experience, providing him with a broader perspective on work and life overall.
As Clayton looks towards the future, he has clear and established goals set for himself. Within six to eight months after completing the program, he aims to secure a stable job back in his hometown, reconnect with his family, and, most importantly, achieve stability in his life. He also hopes to become a homeowner in the near future, further reflecting his desire for a stable and fulfilling personal life. Over the next two years, Clayton envisions living life on his own terms, with a sense of satisfaction and independence.
Reflecting on his journey, Clayton offers wise advice to anyone considering the L.O.G.I.C program. He emphasizes the importance of humility, patience, and staying out of one’s own way. Born from his own experiences, this valuable insight highlights the personal growth Clayton has undergone throughout the program, which has equipped him with skills that are helping him envision and work towards a brighter future.
