“Not everyday is going to be peaches and cream,” says L.O.G.I.C. student Harrold Bisson.
Harold and his classmates are just days away from celebrating their graduation from the 14-week warehousing/logistics training program. Over the past 14 weeks, students have been learning the ins and outs of the warehousing/logistics industry. Even as the program focuses on training students in practical skills, there is also an immense emphasis on the intangibles – teamwork, patience, and communication. Harold highlights the importance of such soft skills. He says, “You need to learn how to work with different people, even when it’s hard. It’s not always easy.”
Harold appreciates the lessons he has learned over the course of the training, but especially enjoys the camaraderie of his peers.
“Everyone has a positive attitude, and we feed off of each other,” he explains. The class helps to establish accountability. Everyone, despite their unique backgrounds and experiences, comes together to push one another to be their best selves. Harold even jokingly brags about his perfect attendance. This encouragement and atmosphere is what makes L.O.G.I.C so distinct.
Harold lauds the program instructor, Lloyd Badson, for cultivating such a safe space by bringing his light-hearted spirit, humorous interjections, and compassionate mentorship to the program every single day.
Looking to the future, Harold envisions getting a job at the program’s end. “I’ll put the skills I’ve learned to use as soon as possible,” he says, beaming from ear to ear. He wants to pursue a career in manufacturing and feels the program will unlock new opportunities for him.
To anybody hesitant about taking a chance on the program and a chance on themselves, Harold’s advice is to go for it. “Do it, and do it with an open mind,” he remarks.
