L.O.G.I.C. Spotlight: Jahmar Williams

December 20, 2023

Jahmar Williams and his fellow L.O.G.I.C. (Logistics, Operations, General Warehousing and Inventory Control) classmates graduate from the 14-week training program tomorrow!

Since October, Jahmar and his classmates have been training in the Food Bank’s Newark warehouse learning the ins and outs of the operations/logistics field. They learned warehouse machinery and had an opportunity to earn four certifications including Certified Logistics Associate and Certified Logistics Technician credentials from the Manufacturing Skills Standards Council, OSHA-10 General Industry Certificate and Forklift Certification.

He entered the program with previous transportation experience, but says the program interested him because he wanted a “full-time job with benefits, the certifications, and a little bit more financial stability.”

In addition to working in transportation, Jahmar has also been a barber. “I still have my equipment and all my tools and a shop on Route 71 by Red Lion Estates. That’s always been my first love kind of thing.”

For Jahmar, learning proper safety protocol and how to maneuver warehouse equipment like the sit-down and stand-up forklift and electric pallet jack have been incredibly helpful.

“The class is informative and time flies. He [Lloyd Badson, Operations Instructor] makes sure you understand the information. He is there to support you,” he said.

Five years from now, Jahmar hopes to be a homeowner. He already envisions what his future house will look like. “It will have a skeleton staircase, a window in the foyer and high ceilings… nothing out of my range, just something comfortable and nice,” he explains.

For students considering the program, Jahmar advises, “Take advantage of it… It’s not very often that you find a program that can certify you in all of these different things for free.”

The next 14-week L.O.G.I.C. training program begins in Newark on Tuesday, January 16 and Monday, January 25 in Milford. To learn more about the program, click here.
